Why do I call myself The Wedding Wordsmith?
The Wedding Wordsmith is Helen Dorritt, a freelance writer and editor in Bristol. I've been writing about weddings for ten years, with five of those spent sitting in the editor's chair at West Weddings. My time at the magazine gave me a real love for the wedding industry and a huge respect for the creativity, energy and friendliness of those who work in it. It was therefore a natural step to offer my services to wedding businesses as a copy and content writer to help you tell your stories to couples.
When I'm not writing about weddings, I also work as a writer and editor for publishing houses and creative small businesses, and I love the variety that this brings me. I'm lucky to work on a number of gorgeous craft and lifestyle magazines including Simply Crochet, Modern Calligraphy & Lettering and Simply Christmas, as well as other hugely varied local and national clients. You can read more about what else I get up to here and here.
When I'm not writing, you'll find me hanging from a trapeze, pottering in my allotment, crocheting a granny square, playing Scrabble (which also made an appearance in our wedding invitations) or enjoying a book and a cup of coffee.
