Why do I call myself The Wedding Wordsmith?
And why do I love working on copy & content for the wedding industry?
The Wedding Wordsmith is Helen Dorritt, a freelance writer and editor in Bristol. I've been writing about weddings for 11 years, with five of those spent sitting in the editor's chair at bridal magazine West Weddings.
My time at the magazine gave me a real passion for the wedding industry and a huge respect for the creativity, energy and friendliness of those who work in it. It was therefore a natural step to combine my love of words and love of weddings as a copy and content writer for wedding businesses.
When I'm not writing about weddings, I'm a writer and editor for publishers and creative small businesses.
I'm lucky to work on a number of gorgeous craft and lifestyle magazines including Simply Crochet, Modern Calligraphy & Lettering and Simply Christmas, as well as other hugely varied local and national clients.
You can read more about what else I get up to on my online portfolio and on my LinkedIn profile.
When I'm not writing, you'll find me hanging from a trapeze, pottering in my allotment, crocheting a granny square, playing Scrabble (which also made an appearance in our wedding invitations), cycling along the river or enjoying a book and a cup of coffee.
